The High Definition Generation With the growing popularity of high definition televisions (HDTV's) and high definition programming, the demand now exists for high capacity storage discs. These discs are capable of holding the large capacity files associated with high definition. HD DVD stands for 'High-Density Digital Versatile Disc'. HD DVD discs use the same blue laser technology as Blu-ray discs. The blue laser has a wavelength of 405nm compared with the wavelength of 650nm for DVD which uses red laser technology. This shorter wavelength means it is possible to write smaller data pits and therefore vastly increases the amount of data on the disc. HD DVD discs are set to bring the home movie experience closer to the movie theatre experience. Capable of recording, rewriting and playback of high definition video, HD DVD discs have a capacity of 15GB, capable or recording more than 2 hours of high definition programming. Features: - High Capacity - 15GB / 30GB. - Laser Wavelength - 405nm. - Scratch Guard protective coating. - Extremely long archival life. - Excellent 'playback' performance.
